I fully understood the responsibility of self-custody. When I met Corey, I was already pretty good. I knew technology, ran my own node, had multi-signature wallets, etc.
I was very pleased to gain great insights (and validation) that I was on the right track. Corey highlighted some things that I hadn't considered and expanded my scope of concern. This has greatly improved my comfort level.
